Westford, once called West Chelmsford
Westford began as West Chelmsford, a village too remote to develop until after King Philip's War, growing enough to incorporate on its own in 1729, later home to the Abbot Worsted Company, reportedly the first U.S. maker of camel-hair worsted yarn. An HVAC project in Westford should account for systems installed since the town's 1729 incorporation rather than its earlier West Chelmsford-era construction.
