Tyngsborough, named for a Merrimack landowning family
Tyngsborough traces to 1660, when Edward Tyng bought 3,000 acres on the Merrimack's west bank, later settled by his son Colonel Jonathan Tyng in 1675, with the town incorporating in 1809 and named for the family. An HVAC project in Tyngsborough should account for systems installed since the town's 1809 incorporation rather than its earlier 1660s settlement era.
