Dracut, once called Augumtoocooke
Dracut was called Augumtoocooke by the Pennacook Confederacy under sachem Passaconaway, who kept his headquarters on a hill by Long Pond, before the town was incorporated in 1701 after Samuel Varnum and others petitioned for separation from Chelmsford. An HVAC project in Dracut should account for systems installed since the town's 1701 separation from Chelmsford rather than its earlier Pennacook-era history.
